believe in dog scholarship fund

Providing financial assistance towards training for dogs who have been adopted from a shelter or rescue organization.

why we created this fund

Our scholarship fund was created to make professional dog training more accessible for rescue dog families.

We know that behavior challenges are one of the top reasons dogs are surrendered to shelters - but with the right support, most of those issues can be resolved.

Your donation helps provide training for dogs in need and gives their families the tools to build stronger, more trusting relationships.

Because we believe that every dog deserves a chance to stay in the home that loves them.

Stephanie and Mr. Hud

Mr. Hud was the dog who started it all. Rescued by Stephanie in 2007 from Jack Russell Rescue, he quickly became Believe in Dog’s muse, ambassador, trick dog, therapy dog, demo dog, puppy mentor, and a remarkably terrific trainer of humans.

But more than that, Hud had a gift for helping shy, fearful dogs feel safe enough to come out of their shell.

He taught us the power of confidence building, and his calm presence shaped much of our training philosophy. Hud wasn’t just a great dog, he was a teacher in every sense.

Mr. Hud and Hank

Hank entered our lives in 2010 as a skinny, sick stray wandering the Heights during a cold front. As he recovered, Stephanie discovered that this pit bull mix was the most affectionate dog she’d ever owned.

But Hank also struggled with leash reactivity, which led her to dive deep into the complexities of this behavior.

Because of Hank, leash reactivity became one of our specialties, and we’re proud to help so many “Reactive Rovers” live fuller, calmer lives.

Some dogs end up teaching us more than we teach them.

Hud and Hank are missed everyday, but with every new rescue dog we help, their legacy lives on.
